Globally, the diabetes epidemic is escalating. Type 1 and type 2 diabetes is on the rise in our community. Around 300,000 Queenslanders are currently diagnosed with diabetes, another 300,000 Queenslanders are living with the condition, yet unaware they have it.
We know that managing diabetes is not easy. Having access to the right information and support can assist people in confidently managing their diabetes.
This is why Diabetes Australia – Queensland is taking an innovative approach by offering educational events for both health professionals and people with diabetes. Diabetes Impact was held on Friday April 13 for health professionals and Stepping Forward was held on Saturday April 14 for people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes. By supporting and up-skilling health professionals, we are ensuring that support for people with diabetes continues across the state, long after our events.
